Field Trials

A Utility Gundog Field Trial is an event which is a competition for any registered Utility Gundog including German Shorthaired pointers. Field Trials are conducted in Victoria from the end of April until the end of June during the quail hunting season. German Shorthaired pointers are expected to hunt fur and feather and both can be encountered at a trial. From time to time, trials are conducted on exotic species: pheasant and partridge. Dogs are worked in a brace under the control of a Judge and Steward in normal hunting conditions. There are approximately five weekends of trialing each year.
